Islandeady cycling club hosted over 200 cycling enthusiasts during the recent cold frost period over the past two weeks. Road conditions all over the country proved very difficult for cyclists, However in Islandeady cycling club, based in castlebar co mayo, over 200 individuals took to the virtual roads using the zwift training system in the new 12 bike / station training studio which is located in the clubs clubhouse in Islandeady castlebar.
Local cycling clubs including The covey youths cycling club, Hollymount Wheelers, Ballintubber cycling club and Westport leisure cycling club as well as members on the islandeady club have used the facility during the cold frosty snap helping to maintain bike fitness and improve bike handling skills.
Islandeady cc have embarked on a new 6 week indoor road skills training session targeted at leisure cyclists looking to partake in local sportives including the explore mayo and pink ribbon sportives.
The new indoor training studio has proved a fantastic resource for the club this autumn & winter with the un seasonal wet and recent cold period, Paraic horkan pro at the club stated ¨Our 12 bike zwift training facility has attracted a large number of new members to the club whilst facilitating local groups the opportunity to use the studio for group training, we are delighted with this new facility and would encourage other cycling clubs to consider investing in a similar set up
