This May Bank Holiday weekend see’s the return of the ‘AmberGreen Tour of Ulster’ to the village of Moy in County Tyrone which will host the start and finish of all 3 stages, from 29th April to 1st May 2017.

The AmberGreen Tour of Ulster is one of Ireland’s longest established races.
Established in 1957, the race is attracting elite riders from across Ireland & the UK.

Garry Nugent, Event Director, said that he is thrilled to see the return of the 2017 AmberGreen Tour of Ulster to the Moy and welcomes on board new sponsorship for the classified jerseys from, JMW Farms for the Points Jersey, Powerhouse Sports for the KOH Jersey and Moy Auto Services for the Young Rider Jersey.
The first stage of this year’s AmberGreen Tour of Ulster departs from the Moy in County Tyrone at Midday, covering over 90 miles and 6 categorised climbs. The race makes its way through the rolling roads of Stewartstown and Cookstown before the first KOH of the day at Pomeroy and then on to Ballygawley with another Category 3 climb on the way. Turning off the main Ballygawley-Omagh road, the race heads towards the first Category 1 climb at Sion Finn Mountain – a 4 mile pull to the summit. It’s a fast descent from here into Fivemiletown, Clogher and Augher before reaching Aughnacloy. The next Categorised climb is a Category 2 at Rehargy Road, a 3 mile long drag to the top. Stiloga Road is the final Category 2 climb of Stage 1 and ramps up very steeply from the main road at 85 miles in. The riders will pass through Benburb and Blackwatertown, finish back in the Square in the Moy at around 3pm.
Stage 2 departs at the earlier time of 10am for almost 100 miles heading South towards Armagh and Newry taking in the first 2 Categorised climbs of a total of 6 for the day before the 25 mile mark at Newry. In Newry, we follow out to Hilltown, riders will take on the first Category 1 climb of the day at Spelga – a 2.1 mile long climb to the top before descending back towards Hilltown. The riders will then make their way to Rathfriland and Banbridge and meander the way around the County Down countryside. The final Categorised climb of the day is at 80 miles just after Tandragee, after which it will be a fast run into the finish in the Moy for around 1.15pm.
Stage 3 departs at the earlier time of 10am and is a 10 mile circuit covered 7 times. The circuit itself starts along the Gorestown Road, and takes a left onto the B130 Derryfubble Road making its way to Benburb. The race then takes a left onto the Confeacle Road running through Blackwatertown and back onto the A29 on heading into the Moy. The KOH will be in the village each time but not on the finish line.
