The An Post Chain Reaction team will take on the Arnhem – Veenendall Classic (1.1) this Friday, 19th August in Holland. Irish rider Connor McConvey will line up alongside, teammates, Jasper Bovenhuis (NDL). Connor McConvey (IRL), Emiel Wastyn (BLG), Oliver Kent-Spark (AUS), Calvin Watson (AUS), Nicholas Vereecken (BEL).

The team was selected based on results from Tuesday’s Pro Kermisse Race Heusden in Belgium where Bovenhuis finished eighth after bridging the gap to the lead breakaway on his own. He then battled to the line in a bunch sprint.

The An Post team will be competing again on Sunday, 21st August at the Grote Prijs Jef Scherens – Rondom Leuven (1.1). The team will be using these races as part of their preparation for the Tour of Britain (2 HC) in four weeks time.

An Post Team manager, Kurt Bogaerts commented;

“It’s a good opportunity for us to practice our tactics with one of the best fields and a lot of good teams. We are working towards strong performances at the Tour of Britain - and being challenged under pressure in the lead up will help us strengthen some of our weaknesses. The bunch sprint is one of the elements we are really focusing on, and this will be a good opportunity for us to challenge our speed and sprinting ability at the end of a long effort.”

An Post’s top sprinter, Aaron Gate will hope to rejoin the team for the tour after competing at the Olympics in Rio in the Team Pursuit representing New Zealand, where they finished in a respectable fourth place.
