Cycling Ireland has nominated Harvey Barnes of East Tyrone Cycling Club to replace Conor Gallagher of Castlebar Cycling Club for the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi, Georgia at the end of July.

Team manager Martin O' Loughlin paid tribute to Gallagher who had to withdraw due to injury. "Conor has been struggling with a painful knee injury over the past few weeks which hasn't responded to treatment. He and his parents made the heartbreaking decision over the weekend that he wouldn't be ready in time for the EYOF. It's a sign of his maturity that he has made the call now, thus giving Harvey every opportunity to be in the best possible shape."

"In our national road race champion Harvey Barnes, we have a great replacement; a clever road racer who isn't afraid to mix it up in the finale".

The EYOF time trial takes place on 26th July, with the road race two days later
