Clifford and Lynch to Race for Bronze Today

Clifford and Lynch Both Race for Bronze at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Apeldoorn

Eoghan Clifford has qualified for the bronze medal ride off in the Men’s C3 3km Individual Pursuit at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands today. The Galway based rider made his track cycling debut at Newport just 6 weeks ago and today qualified as the third fastest rider in the Individual Pursuit, just 0.5 sec off the gold medal final. Clifford will now face Russia’s Ustinov at 2.30pm Irish time. In the qualifying round Clifford started opposite South African rider, Odendaal, and passed him twice in the 3km event, before finishing in a time of 3.39.945. Ustinov, who will also contest the bronze medal, finished in a time of 3.41.245. USA’s Berenyi and Fujita (Japan) will compete for gold.

In the Men's C2 3km Individual Pursuit Colin Lynch has also qualified for the bronze medal ride-off after finishing fourth in the qualifying round earlier today. Lynch will face Russian rider Gilmutdinov in the race for bronze this afternoon. The Championships run from Thursday 26^th March until Sunday 29^th March.

Lynch will also be in action this afternoon, competing in the qualifying rounds of the Men’s C2 3km Individual Pursuit. Competition began in the Apeldoorn Velodrome on Thursday 26^th March and will continue until Sunday the 29^th March, with all competitions taking place during the day.
