Cross-country National Series Round Four Preview

The cross-country National Series hits its business end as riders compete for round victory as well as ever-important overall ranking points this weekend.

Round four, hosted by Fermoy Cycling Club, brings Irish cycling’s mountain bike elite to Co. Cork and Glensheskin Wood for what is sure to be yet another cracking round of racing.

As scorching weather and fiercely contested racing proved the highlights of the opening rounds, riders and spectators will be looking forward to this weekend’s action.

The excitement for this round is also doubled by the inclusion of cross-country short track racing on Saturday, June 15th, for the first time in the series.

Cross-country Short Track (XCC) is an exciting and relatively new format of Cross Country (XC) which was introduced by the UCI in 2018. The 20-minute race sees riders battle over a course that ranges between 1km to 1.3km long – around two to three minutes per lap.
