We are calling on the Minister for Transport once again to allocate at least 10% of the Transport Budget to cycling this Wednesday 22nd of February. This will be a lunchtime protest and all details are below. Hope you can make it and even if you can't, please help spread the word by inviting friends, co-workers, family, anyone on two wheels to come along!

There's an important announcement for this month's Public Meeting on Mon 13th; it will take place at a different venue. It will be at Tailor's Hall on back Lane in Dublin 8. This will be a working meeting focused on organising the upcoming protest, our presence on this year's St Patrick's Parade and the Campaign's Strategy for the next 3 years (all details below). Wed 22nd Feb 12.45pm

Department of Transport,
Leeson Lane, Dublin 2

Last October, we held Ireland’s biggest ever cycle protest when almost 1,000 cyclists took to the streets to demand proper funding for cycling. We’re taking to the streets again on Wednesday 22nd February, starting outside the office of the Minister for Transport in Leeson Lane and cycling to the Dáil.

We’re calling on the Minister to:
• allocate at least 10% of the Transport Budget to cycling
• implement the National Cycle Policy Framework in full
• take action to reduce transport emissions so that Ireland fulfils its obligations under COP 21.

We want to make this the biggest and the best protest yet so bring all your cycling friends. Write to / email your TDs and tell them you’re coming and ask them to come out and meet us and show their support for cycling. Get your loudest bell ready and make your own placards telling everyone what you want for cycling.

Check out our website for all the details!

St Patrick's Parade - Call out for participants!

Dublin Cycling Campaign are excited to announce our 8th year participating in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The 2017 theme is “Ireland You Are” and it’s all about reflecting on the type of nation we are - and indeed the type of nation we can or ought to be. We want to show Dublin and the world that cycling is the past, present, and future of our city. With 2017 as the 200th year anniversary of the bicycle, we will be highlighting the evolution of the bicycle and the variety of bicycles used today.

We have many local groups participating including fashion with Georgia in Dublin, Bikes and Business, Cyclone Couriers, Dirt Monkeys stunt bikes, Marty High Nelly with Penny Farthings and ice cream bikes. It is sure to be good fun!

We especially invite Dublin Cycling Campaign members that have cargo bikes, kids with strollers and balance bikes, tandems, recumbents, Bromptons; anything that stands out. We also need volunteers to help transport some of the specialty bicycles using support bikes and trailers provided by River Cycles and volunteers to help coordinate on the day of.

February Public Meeting
Change of Venue!

Monday, February 13, 2017

The Tailors' Hall, Back Lane, Christchurch

Dublin Cycling Campaign’s February Public Meeting will take place on Monday 13th February. Please arrive from 7.45pm for an 8.00pm sharp start. Meeting to finish at 9.00/9.15pm.

It will be working public meeting, so please come along with your sleeves rolled up! After an update on the latest news on Dublin Cycling Campaign’s activities, we will divide up into several groups to advance work on a number of key campaigns / processes.

Intersections across Luas tracks

We met with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) on Friday afternoon to discuss new designs to be applied on intersections across LUAS lines in Dublin city. The aim of the project is to guide cyclists at (at least) 45 degree angles and prevent accidents. It is only at design stage and we gave feedback at the location on Parnell street and Cavendish row. We will test the designs next week under dry and wet conditions. What do you think?

If you are interested in testing the new layout send us an email and we can arrange a meeting, contact us at info@dublincycling.ie
