This weekend (28th February) saw another important milestone reached in the development of Cycle Right, the national standard for cycle training in Ireland, with a group of existing trainers commence assimilation training.

This is the first such group since the pilot last September, and when this phase of training concludes in April, close to sixty trainers will be a step closer to registration in anticipation of the launch of the programme in September 2016.

The first training day, held at the Dublin City Fire Brigade training centre, was attended by trainers from around the country. Various aspects of Cycle Right were covered with participants engaged in a lot of practical, hands-on activity, as well as getting a sense of the administrative process involved.

Training for this group will carry on next weekend and in the coming weeks three further courses will roll out.
