BELFAST’S Titanic Quarter Cycling Club is celebrating a new sponsorship deal with one of the world’s biggest cycling brands.

The club – a legacy of the 2014 Giro d’Italia Big Start in Northern Ireland – is marking its third year of growth and a new three-year relationship with Chain Reaction Cycles, the global cycling store that launched from humble beginnings in Ballyclare, Co Antrim in 1985.

The partnership will see Chain Reaction Cycles support Titanic Quarter Cycling Club (TQCC) events and members, who will benefit from in-store incentives and the highest quality guidance and advice on everything from buying a bike to maintaining one.

Phil Corr, Chairman of TQCC, said: “We have been on the roads around Northern Ireland and beyond since November 2014 and we now have more than 130 members. The club is enjoying consistent growth and we are now looking forward to forming a youth division.

“Joining forces with Chain Reaction Cycles could not be better timed. Current and new members will enjoy access to the best advice, support and equipment both at the flagship Chain Reaction Cycles shop in Belfast and via the biggest online cycling store in the world. It’s a big complement to our young club that Chain Reaction Cycles is partnering with us.”

TQCC and Chain Reaction Cycles will immediately link up in the club’s first-ever sportive next month. On June 23, the TQCC Summer Solstice and BBQ will launch from the Belfast Harlequins Rugby Club – a unique Friday evening event taking in a route around south Belfast, Saintfield and Carryduff.

Neil McGuigan, Retail Manager at Chain Reaction Cycles, said: “The relationship between Chain Reaction Cycles’ Belfast store and the Titanic Quarter Cycle Club is very much a natural one, helping to support TQCC develop its youth and ladies cycling in the Belfast local area whilst being affiliated to one of the world’s leading cycling retailers.

“It works both ways - we have various in-store events for the clubs which have become very sociable, offering member’s great deals on bikes, new kit or maybe those essentials to get the bike ready for the new season. Without local clubs like TQCC the store would be very different and more importantly we look to further and develop our relationships with these clubs over the coming years.”
