Cycling Ireland are pleased to announce the first edition of the monthly awards for 2019.
The monthly awards aim to:
- Recognise the achievements of riders, volunteers and clubs throughout the year
- Ensure performances across all the disciplines and strands of cycling are recognised
- Involve the cycling community in the recognition of cycling throughout the year
The new structure introduced last year saw the introduction of monthly awards
in the following categories; Domestic Male Rider, Domestic Female Rider and
Volunteer of the month.
For 2019 we have introduced one additional category: Club of the Month. This aims to recognise the contribution of our affiliated clubs and highlight clubs who have excelled in areas such as youth development, organising events or increasing participation levels in cycling.
Each month Cycling Ireland members will be invited to nominate the person and
club who they believe are deserving of these awards and asked to offer a
rationale behind their nomination. A selection panel will assess the
nominations, and the monthly winner will be announced after voting has
concluded.
In 2019 the overall winner of Domestic Male and Female Riders of the Year,
Volunteer of the Year and Club of the Year will be voted on by Cycling Ireland
members based on a shortlist of the monthly winners.
