Bike Fest Moves up a Gear Ahead of Annual Family Festival

The sound of bicycle bells and laughter will fill up St. Anne’s Park, Raheny, on Sunday the 14th June from 12pm – 6pm, when Cycling Ireland’s Bike Fest will see the Dublin City Council Park transform into a cycling haven for all the family. Cycling Ireland’s free annual family cycling festival once again marks the launch of National Bike Week, offering an opportunity for all ages to enjoy their bike, from the 18 month old avid balance bike enthusiasts, to the older children amongst us, with cycling activities for everyone.

This is the third year that the family cycling festival will take place in St. Anne’s Park, with the aim of providing a fun learning experience on the bike to children of all ages. The festival offers a good balance between the learning of new skills in our coached skills zones featuring Sprocket Rocket, Gearing up off Road, Grass Track Cycling, Strider Bike and Cycle Safety, and a relaxed atmosphere in the picnic area with MC Shane Burke and a range of exhibitors.

Live cycling entertainment will be provided by Savage Skills, who will be making their Bike Fest debut this year, and are sure to wow the crowds with their cycling skills, and will be happy to provide some coaching to the dare devils out there too. Mountain Bike and Track Cycling coaches will also be present, to introduce kids to the sport of Mountain Biking and Track Cycling.  RSA are providing a shuttle bus, for everyone to test their road awareness skills with interactive, educational road safety experiences, and Doctor Mechanic will be on hand to answer any bike mechanic questions.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Christy Burke, will officially open the event at 12pm. Entrance is free to Bike Fest, the Cycling Ireland Family Cycling Festival, on Sunday the June 14th from 12pm – 6pm. Guaranteed fun for all the family, all that is required is a bike, a helmet, and a sense of adventure.
