Job Title: Development Coach
Responsible to: Head Coach
Contract Duration: 2 Years
Responsible for: Principally for the development and preparation of Junior & U23 Riders
Hours of work: Flexible
Remuneration: Circa €30,000
Background:
Cycling Ireland (CI) is currently looking to bring some new personnel and capacity to its High Performance Unit in line with requirements for the Olympic Cycle up to Rio 2016. Our High Performance objective is to inspire, motivate and lead a team of World Class Athletes led by a team of World Class support staff that strives to build a consistent World Class support service.
Development Coach:
The Development Coach will principally be responsible for the delivery of coaching programs and supporting riders at training and competition events for Junior’s and U23 Cyclists. The Development Coach will focus on delivery of an agreed set of objectives set by the CI Head Coach in line with the CI Long Term Athlete Development Plan (LTAD). This role will require duties to extend to flexible working arrangements, including weekend and possible evening time commitments.

Qualification & Attainments
| Hold a recognised coaching qualification in cycling.
At least two years’ experience of coaching cycling teams or riders. | Degree or diploma in sports science.
Experience of coaching track cyclists to medal winning performances at major championships. |
Relevant Experience | Demonstrable experience of working for at least one year directly with athletes, using a multi-disciplinary approach.
A thorough understanding of the High Performance environment and elite sport.
Competence in budgeting and financial management for event management
Experience of working with volunteers.
An understanding of legislation and regulations relevant to sports organizations to include child protection, health and safety, data protection, equity, anti-doping etc. | Demonstrable experience of applying and selling innovative and challenging ideas, in a work or sporting environment.

Special Aptitudes | Competent in the use of information technology.
Excellent literary and communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise reports.
Excellent organisational skills.
Experience of making presentations to a target audience. | Competent in use of Microsoft XP or above; and in particular Word, Excel, and Power Point, email and website.
Familiarity with Power Training Software.
Experience of working under pressure and to strict deadlines.
First Aid Certificate. |
General Aptitudes | Highly proactive, with the ability to work with minimal direction. |

Disposition | Good Interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to be self-motivated, resourceful, work on own initiative in a flexible and co-operative manner. |

Interview and start date: Interviews will be held in Dublin in June with a view to immediate commencement.
The post will be administered from Cycling Ireland’s offices at Kelly Roche House, Dublin 1, and flexible work locations are negotiable. The post is offered as a fixed-term contract. Remuneration is circa €30K dependent on experience and qualifications.
The post is subject to the necessary funding being secured and candidates must submit to Garda Vetting and Access NI checks.
