DNF for English after missing key move

Day three of the UCI 2016 Track Cycling World championships saw Felix English pull out of the Points Race after missing a couple of key moves. The 23 year old Madison-Genison rider was competing in the 160 lap race when an early four rider break, which included eventual winner Jonathan Dibben (GBR), dictated the aggressive nature of the race. English attempted to take a lap after the halfway mark, taking sprint points en route, but this was not enough to get back on terms with the early leaders. At the end of the 40km race Dibben (GBR) won gold, with Andreas Graf (AUT) taking second ahead of Kenny De Ketele (BEL) in third. The World Championships run from Wednesday 2nd March until Sunday 6th March.

On Saturday Caroline Ryan will be Ireland’s last rider to compete, when she races in the Points Race, an event in which she won bronze in 2012. Racing at the UCI 2016 Track World Championships takes place in the London Lee Valley VeloPark from 2-6 March 2016. BBC and Eurosport will be broadcasting the highlights of the events throughout the championships.
