Three riders were in action for Ireland on the final day of racing at the World Junior Track Championships in Aigle, Switzerland today.
Ciara Doogan began the second day of the Women’s Omnium in 13th place and kicked off her final three races with 14th fastest in the 500m time trial in a time of 40.213s.
The 18-year-old student from Donegal then raced to 15th in the Flying Lap and lined up for the final event, the 20km Points Race, in 14th position overall.
Doogan produced another battling display, taking a point in the seventh sprint while in a four-rider group fighting to take a lap. That group was caught and Ciara eventually finished 15th after a tough two weeks of top class international racing.
Earlier Xeno Young and Luke Smith had taken to the boards in the morning Men's Madison Qualifying. They finished 8th in their heat which wasn’t enough to propel them to the afternoon final in what was a new event for both first-year Juniors.
