Last week’s monthly public meeting of Dublin Cycling Campaign featured a review of the recent Velo-city conference in Nantes, France, which had a strong Irish attendance, including representatives from Cyclist.ie, Dublin City Council, the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and Cycling Ireland. Velo-city, the annual global conference series, is largely regarded as the world reference in terms of urban cycling policies.

On a great evening, which was very well attended, it was interesting to hear all the feedback on Velo-city 2015, reflecting the various perspectives of attendees. Hopefully the good ideas will disseminate far and wide, and help to reshape thinking on how to re-establish strong cycling cultures all around Ireland.

The next monthly public meeting of Dublin Cycling Campaign (Mon 14th Sept) will feature Drs. Lorraine D'Arcy and Jackie Burke, both great researchers and advocates on making cities walking / child friendly. Details on www.dublincycling.ie very soon!
