Expression of Interest for Cross-country and Downhill World Championships 2024



Cycling Ireland and the Off-road Commission are now seeking expression of interest for riders to compete in the upcoming 2024 UCI Downhill (DHI) and Cross-country (XCO) World Championships (including cross-country short course (XCC)). 


The championships will be held in Pal Arinsal, Andorra from August 28th to September 1st, 2024. 


In 2023, Ireland were well represented at the Championships, which took place in Glasgow as part of the large multi-event UCI World Championships, Oisin O'Callaghan recorded a top result at Fort William, coming home in 12th place in the Downhill. 


Riders seeking selection and who meet the UCI eligibility criteria in their event or discipline are invited to complete an expression of interest form by 23:59 on Wednesday, 31st of July 2024.


The Off-road Commission will lead on this with an Expression of Interest process and defined selection criteria. The process is as per the published National Team Selection Policy


Please note that these championships are not funded through the Cycling Ireland High Performance Unit, and all athletes selected to compete will be required to cover any associated costs.

Selection Criteria


The riders must hold a 2024 UCI competition membership licence with the country code “IRELAND”. Applications should contain results within the last 12 months, 1st of July 2023 to 31st of July 2024.
