Galway to Dublin Greenway

Public Information

A greenway is an off-road route designed for cyclists and pedestrians. In 2012 the NRA was directed by the Department of Transport to progress the design of a national greenway from Galway to Dublin. This will be an important national tourism asset, attracting walkers and cyclists from all over Ireland,  Europe  and  beyond.  It  will  also  provide  recreational  opportunities  for  local  communities  along  the route.

Westmeath  County  Council  in  partnership  with  Roscommon  County  Council,  Galway  County Council and Galway City  Council have engaged Roughan  & O'Donovan  -  AECOM consulting engineers to carry out the preliminary design and develop the scheme.
