The youth girl's team has been announced for the Youth Tour of Scotland, which takes place on the 6-9 April 2018. Due to the early closing date (26th February) it was not possible to use Rás Maigh Eo as a selection race. A team of four riders, and one non-travelling reserve, was selected based on the results of the 2017 Cycling Ireland Youth U15 National Championships.

Using a scoring chart based on all three disciplines the following riders have been selected to represent the new
Youth Commission in Scotland.

Caoimhe O’Brien

Lucy O’Donnell

Eva Brennan

Aoibhe Power

Reserve Ella Doherty.

For the 2018 edition of the Youth Tour of Scotland the women's rep on the Youth Commission was tasked with the selection and management of this year’s team.

The closing date for the complete team names to be submitted to the event organiser was the 26th February, with no exceptions
.

The rationale behind sending a team of second year U16s to the events was to give more opportunity to girls moving into the junior ranks; giving them experience of riding in bigger bunches with their peers.

It was hoped that a second team of U16s would also be entered, but due to the maximum field size being reached, this was not accepted - over ten teams were turned down.
