In the first international handbike race of the season Irish cyclists have performed extremely well, securing great positions heading into the road race in the afternoon in Abu Dhabi.

Female handbike WH2 Ciara Staunton showed that all the winter training is paying off when she raced the 16.5km Time Trial course in a PB of 46.35, this puts in her a top position going into the Road Race this afternoon (Sunday). Staunton's time was particularly impressive considering its relative time to the top WH3 riders.

MH4 Seamus Wall also gave an outstanding display under 33 degree heat with a PB of 28.43 finishing in 14th place in his category.

MH3 Declan Slevin secured a 9th place from the TT this morning and they all look forward to the 1 hour plus 1 lap Road Race on the Formula 1 Circuit at 4pm local time.
