SEAN DOWNEY

 

Sean Downey is one of Ireland’s top road racers, and has competed for Ireland, and on the An Post Cycling Team for many years. We caught up with the Banbridge CC rider following his return to track cycling.  

How did you get involved with cycling?

Through my dad he raced and has a bike shop
 

Had you been involved with other sports before cycling?

Swimming

 

Who has been your biggest influence, and why?

 

My dad he rode the bike in the Olympics in 1984 and I grew up round the sport

 

What is your favourite cycling session?

The Dromara hills because there is no traffic and is a great place to train

 

What’s your biggest achievement to date?

Common wealth medal

 

And this year... What are your season goals?

You will have to wait and see
