Irish Cycling Show geared up for the Weekend ahead!

The Irish Cycling Show is taking place this weekend Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May, in Merrion Square Dublin. The change in location to an outdoor event is to coincide with the Giro d’Italia arriving in Dublin on Sunday.

The Show will be held in the East of Merrion Park with a large mix of exhibitors retailing and showcasing their products and services. Open both days from 10am to 7pm with Fizik, Topeak, Turas, Veloleum, Trek, and Clif Bar, among the many exhibitors attending the event.

The Giro d'Italia is an annual stage race that is run primarily in Italy. This is only the 10th time since 1909 the Giro d’Italia will have a stage outside of Italy and a unique event for Ireland. With the large media attention surrounding the race and huge volume of spectators expected at the finish line the atmosphere in around Merrion square will be a cyclists haven.

The race will arrive at the finish line in Merrion Square outside government buildings at approximately 4.30pm on Sunday with highlights of the race being shown throughout the day on a live screen sponsored by Dublin City Council/An Post located at South East corner of Merrion Square.

There are a number of fun attractions taking place over the weekend such as Dublin City Council’s family activities in the West of the Park, from 1pm to 6pm Saturday and Sunday. The zone will be aimed at families, including fancy dress, “Cycle Circus”, face painting, and music. One4all Women on Wheels with Oxfam are holding a very manageable, fun 22km cycle that will follow the final leg of the Giro d’Italia cycle route on Saturday 10th at 8:30am.

The Irish Cycling Show, run by Mara Media, is in it’s third year of the show and managing Director Hugh Bonner says  “There are a number of activities organized over the weekend in and around the finish area that the Dublin end of the Giro is very much shaping up to be a weekend of action, not just the Sunday when the race hits town.”

Entry is FREE to the park both days for visitors and is open from 10:00am to 7:00pm Saturday and Sunday.
