 | | Bike Fest 2016 - Cycling Ireland's Family Cycling Festival | Big smiles, muddy bikes and splashing in puddles... that's how Bike Fest looked last Sunday, 19th June in St. Anne's Park. The Family Cycling Festival saw kids of all ages come along and try out the variety of cycling zones available at the festival celebrating National Bike Week. Our favourite quote was from the young rider on a balance bike who said "I love when it rains, cos I get to splash in puddles..." as he rode through big puddles. Bike Fest 2016 may not have had the biggest number of riders, but it certainly had the biggest smiles. See how it unfolded in pictures HERE |

 | | Paracyclists and the An Post Tour de Burren | Last weekend the Irish Paracycling Team completed a tough block of training in Co. Wicklow, before capping the week as ambassadors for the An Post Tour de Burren. WATCH THIS INSPIRATIONAL VIDEO which shows just what cycling and competing means to these athletes.  | | Olympic Team named for Rio | Last week the Olympic Council of Ireland named the cycling team who will be competing at the Olympic Games in Rio this summer. Ireland had qualified one track slot and two road places, and over the past number of months the selection process for these positions has been in progress. In the Women's Keirin Shannon McCurley will be competing in the Keirin in track cycling, and Dan Martin and Nicolas Roche will be competing in the Elite Men's Road Race.  | | National Road Championships | One of the most exciting events on the Irish calendar is almost here; the National Road Championships. In securing the location it was a case of third time lucky for the race organisers, Orwell Wheelers. |  | | Paralympics Team Announcement | On the 5th July Paralympics Ireland will be announcing the Irish Team who will be competing in Rio in September at the Paralympic Games. It is a nervous time for the Irish riders who are in contention for these slots. Ireland has qualified 4 male bikes and 2 female bikes.  | | Dublin Track Cycling International - Sundrive 2-3 July | The Dublin Track Cycling International takes place in Sundrive Velodrome on the 2-3 July. This year the entries already include world champions, and names like Elia Viviani, so if you want to get up close and personal with some of the biggest names in cycling, make sure you come along one of the only UCI international races on the Irish cycling calendar. |  | | Irish Teams in UCI Road events |  Recently Cycling Ireland has had road teams competing in UCI races in Philadelphia and Beaumont, with the teams racing strongly in both events. Following the Philadelphia Bike Race team manager Noel McGlynn said "We went out with the stated goal of having one of the U23's pick up UCI points with a top 25 placing. ...READ MORE" Martin O'Loughlin, Team Manager for Beaumont, said "Our riders showed that they have what it takes to compete at pro level....  | | Take Part in Northern Ireland’s Most Iconic Sportive – Giant’s Causeway Coast Sportive | The Giant’s Causeway Coast Sportive, in association with Chain Reaction Flagship Store Belfast, offers 3 routes through an incredible landscape steeped in myth and legend along the spectacular Causeway Coast and Glens of Antrim. Taking place on Saturday 10th September 2016 and starting at the seaside town of Ballycastle, Co.  | | Irish riders set for the World Cross Country Championships in Czech Republic | The 2016 UCI World Cross-country (XCO) championships take place in the Czech Republic from 30 June to 3 July. Three riders from Ireland will be competing at this event. Gareth McKee (Elite men), James Curry (Under 23) and David Conroy (Junior) will be supported by Simon Curry and Graham Boyd. We wish them great success. |
