JUNIOR MEN: TRAINING CAMP 25TH – 26TH JANUARY

Junior Men Training Camp – with skills and MTB Focus

Cycling Ireland is holding its first Junior Men’s Training Camp of the year this weekend, in Ballyhoura, Co. Limerick, where they will be training off-road. While the 2014 Selection Criteria will be announced shortly, the riders attending this camp have been selected based on their 2013 performances and engagement and participation in CI programs in previous seasons.

Coach Neill Delahaye, speaking ahead of the training camp, said:

“This is the first get together of the Junior Men’s squad this year, and we are taking them off-road for the weekend and also bringing in some cross training as a new challenge. There will be plenty of hard training and racing on the roads in the coming months so this weekend is about getting some good work in while also having fun and developing some of the skills the riders will need to stay sharp while racing on the road. We will also take the opportunity to give the riders some insight into the year ahead, into the systems & methods we will be using and to educate and engage them in some of the day to day skills they need to learn which go hand in hand with their development as young adults as well as bike riders.

The squad who are attending this weekend have proven themselves in previous seasons and once the racing commences this year they will need to keep showing that same motivation and ability to maintain their position on the squad. We are always attentive in giving the riders that deserve the chance the opportunity to represent their country and once the competitive season is underway we will be keeping a close eye on the racing to see what riders are getting the results and exhibiting the traits that will put them in contention for future selection.”
