Racing has kicked off in County Clare for the Junior Tour of Ireland, sponsored by Eurocycles Eurobaby. The 6.4km Time Trial was won by Hot Tubes rider Magnus Sheffield in a time of 7 minutes 54.52 seconds, over 5 seconds clear of second placed Matthew Riccitello. South Africa's Rickardo Broxham was third with 8 minutes 2.53 seconds.
The highest placed Irish rider was Mark Smith (Cycling Leinster). The Sports Room rider clocked 8 minutes 20.89 seconds. Ulster rider Michael McGlynn was the only other Irish junior in the top ten with 8 minutes 24.13.
