ŠKODA Ireland have announced that their three-part nationwide cycling initiative, the ‘ŠKODA Celtic Cycle Series’, is to return for a second year. Following the successful completion of the inaugural series last summer, the 2017 events will once again see 4,500 cyclists take to their saddles from May to September right across the country.


Kicking it all off will be the renowned Tour de Conamara in Co. Galway on 27th May, the biggest of the three events with 2,500 cyclists expected to descend on the West. Following that will be the Ring of Clare on 29th July with 1,000 cyclists gracing Ennis and lastly the Tour de Boyne Valley on 10th September, a new event to this year’s three part series.


Speaking about the ŠKODA Celtic Cycle Series, Cathal Kealey, Events & Sponsorship Manager at ŠKODA Ireland, said; “ŠKODA’s association with cycling goes all the way back to 1895 when ŠKODA first starting manufacturing bicycles, and we are delighted to have continued this association even as the brand progressed and moved into the automotive industry. We are delighted by the interest in last year’s inaugural ŠKODA Celtic Cycle Series and we are really looking forward to building on that success this year and getting move people involved and pedaling around Ireland.”


The ŠKODA Celtic Cycle Series has been developed for all ages and abilities with both a short and long distance option available for participants at all three events ranging from 70km to 160km making the series perfect for mixed groups.
