This is one of the very few ladies-only leisure events in Ireland, and all marshalling, preliminary mechanical adjustments, tyre inflations, puncture repairs on the road, and food stop service will as usual be done by the men in the Club.
Last year, on a hot sunny September day, we had 150 participants from Sligo, Mayo, Galway, Westmeath, and further afield. Our Sligo Mayor Marcella McGarry launched the event, but so enthused was she that she hopped on a bike and did the 40km with us !........Although the day was touching 24 degrees, we also had a lady Garda do the circuit on her Garda mountain bike, in full uniform !
This is a great fun event for beginner and intermediate cyclists.....HQ and start at the Sligo Park, our refreshments stop in Dromahair around the 20km mark will leave all re-energised for the spin home around the lake, taking in the scenery at Parkes Castle, and Calry/Colga, and back through Sligo centre, up the Pearse Road to the Sligo Park, where further refreshments and banter await.
