Routes announced for National Championships in September 2017.
On Saturday 9th September the National Time Trial Championships for Juniors, M40s, M50s and M60s will take place in Maghera. The 21 mile route will start at the Grillagh junction towards Upperlands > Kilrea > Garvagh > Swatragh and back to the finish at Grillagh picnic area.
The next day, Sunday 10th September will see separate Road Races take place for Junior & A3 categories.
The riders will roll out from Walsh’s Hotel in Maghera to assemble at the start area at the old High School on the Tobermore Road and race a flat 2 mile leg to reach the 11 mile circuit in Tobermore.
Each race will cover 5 laps around Tobermore > Desertmartin > Magherafelt > Tobermore. On the last lap the race will take the Lisnamuck Road to Five Mile Straight crossroads and finish at the top of the iconic Coolnasillagh Mountain (adjacent to the Glenshane Pass) when the winner in each race will be crowned the National Champion.
