National Road and Time Trial Championships Will Take Place on Weekend 23-26 June
Following the announcement of the closure of the Phoenix Park on the 23-26 June, the uncertainty about the future of the 2016 National Road Championships has been lifted, with confirmation that the Championships will proceed on the planned weekend, with a new location guaranteed. An exciting and welcome announcement will be made about the Championships and this year’s venue on Tuesday evening, with the registration opening for the event on Wednesday morning.
Race Director Stephen O’Shea representing the host club, Orwell Wheelers, would like to thank Cycling Leinster, the Garda Síochana and Cycling Ireland President Ciaran McKenna for their hard work and cooperation over the past few days. This year’s Championships will feature the Elite Women, Elite Men, U23 Men, M40, M50 and M60 events.
The National Road Championships are hosted by Cycling Ireland clubs every year, with the location being rotated between the four provinces. Orwell Wheelers were successful in securing the prestigious event for 2016.
