Following a comprehensive recruitment process that attracted
several high-quality candidates, Cycling Ireland is delighted to announce the
appointment of Scott Graham to the role of Marketing & Communications
Manager.
Scott is a seasoned sport management professional – having
most recently worked with one of Europe’s leading agencies, Teneo (formally
PSG) as a Senior Sponsorship Consultant, with clients and governing bodies
including Vhi, Aer Lingus, Canterbury, Kingspan, SPAR, IRFU, FAI, GAA, and
Sport Ireland.
Scott was previously the Marketing & Communications Lead
with Triathlon Ireland, where he was responsible for building all facets of the
organisation’s communications and marketing plan, working with clubs, events
and athletes to promote the sport; and to attract and service top level
sponsors such as Vodafone, Renault and Kinetica.
Scott’s experience is complemented by a recently completed
Diploma in Sports Law, coupled with an Honours degree in Marketing & Event
Management and a Diploma in Management Studies.
Cycling Ireland CEO Matt McKerrow indicated this is a key appointment
for the national governing body. “Scott brings a wealth of experience and
enthusiasm to this role. There are so many great stories and messages across
the breadth of activity that occurs in the cycling community - and such a large
part of promoting and developing the sport is getting these messages out there
for all to hear. I’ve every confidence Scott will be a strong performer for the
organisation”.
The role is one Graham is clearly excited about:
“Cycling and the promotion of physical activity is a passion of
mine, so I am very excited by the opportunity to help grow the sport in
Ireland. Cycling is one of Ireland’s most popular participation sports and is
recognised as one of three priority sports in the National Sports Policy. I
believe there are huge opportunities for the development of cycling in Ireland
across all disciplines and at all levels from commuter to leisure to elite. I’m
really looking forward to getting started and working with volunteers and
stakeholders across the sport.”
Scott is also an experienced endurance and mass
participation sport competitor. A keen cyclist, runner and triathlete, he was
recently the 4th Irishman home at Ironman Cork and finished Ironman
Barcelona in a time of 9’16”.
Scott will commence in the role on 9 August.
