TC Racing, a cycling club from Oldcastle Co Meath host their inaugural Oldcastle Grand Prix on Sunday 31st July. While the club has a history of running bicycle races this will be the first one based in the north Meath town. Sign on for the race is in the Show Hall on the Kells Road and is open from 10.30-12.30. All races start from 1pm. For those who travel to the race there is an A1/A2/A3/Jnr handicap race and a separate A4 and a seperate Ladies race.

While the race will not be going over the Cat 2 climb of Patrickstown which has featured in many of the latest An Post Ras, it does not mean that it will be an easy day. All races will cover a 20 km loop of challenging but yet picturesque roads. It is a fast, twisty and rolling course and will suit the men and women who fancy getting up the road. If it does come down to a gallop the 1km long finishing straight should give the strong men and women ample opportunity to steal the prizes.

The race is being run in conjunction with the Le Cheile Music and Arts Festival and promises to be a rocking weekend of racing in the Royal county. There will be entertainment in the town square as part of the festival and the race. There is a family fun day being organised by Le Cheile and it will bring a host of activities to the streets of Oldcastle while the race is buzzing through the town. Some of these activities include live music, face painting, arts and crafts, song and dance classes, bouncy castles etc.

Navan Road Club are running the Mountnugent GP on the 30th July and its only 5 miles away from Oldcastle. So make the journey up for the weekend and get in two quality races and enjoy the music festival which has plenty of kicking acts to see, these include The Strypes, The Academic, Aine Cahill, Travis Oakes and many more.

The Oldcastle Grand Prix is being sponsored and supported by Empowerment Plus, Will Design Studios and Navan Ford. It is being supported and ran in conjunction with Le Cheile Music and Arts Festival.
