The Road Event takes place immediately after the track event on Sunday 1st November.

Irish Para Cyclists Eoghan Clifford and Colin Lynch have been invited to take part in the Tour de France Saitama Critérium.

The event is run by Amaury Sport Organisation (who also run the Tour de France), and each year the end-of-season Criterium includes the Tour de France winner along with several other well-known pro cyclists who race around a 3.1km city centre circuit in Saitama, Japan

This is the first year that Paracyclists have been asked to take part and they will do so alongside Chris Froome and other big names such as Simon Geschke, John Degenkolb and Joaquim Rodríguez as well some top local cyclists.

Current World Time Trial Champion Clifford will renew his rivalry with local rider Masaki Fujita. The Irishman won Gold in the MC3 time trial at the Paracycling World Road Championships earlier this year with Fujita taking Gold in the road race.

This year represents a big chance to show off Paracycling in an event that attracts crowds of up to 200,000 in the country that will host the 2020 Olympic Games.
