Irish Paracycling Team Ready to Hit the Boards at World Championships

Irish Team Compete in the UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships in Mexico

Ireland’s Paracycling Track Team will be competing in the 2014 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships this weekend in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The small and strong Irish Team consists of two tandems and two solo bikes, including reigning World Champion Colin Lynch.

The team has been acclimatising in Mexico for the past number of weeks, where the temperatures are reaching 40 degrees. With this being the first major track cycling competition on the UCI Para-cycling calendar since the Paralympic Games in London, 2012, these will be highly competitive and exciting Championships.

The two tandems will be first in action, racing on Thursday the 10th April, both of which are new pairings. Katie George
Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal have been producing fast times in training, and kick off the Irish campaign and approximately 6pm tomorrow evening. James Brown and Bryan McCrystal will be next on the track.

Paracycling Coach Neill Delahaye speaking ahead of the event said “The training over the past few months has been going well. All squad members have put in a huge amount of work, and full commitment to this campaign. The priority for each bike is the Individual Pursuit, where we are performing better than ever before and this will ensure that we will be very competitive. They will all compete in the 1km Time Trial also.”

The competition takes place in Aguascalientes, Mexico, between April 10th and 12th
