The Phoenix Park Bike Festival was today launched by radio and television broadcaster, Doireann Ni Bhriain, at Dublin Zoo in the Phoenix Park.

Following a photo call for a group of varied and very enthusiastic cyclists pedalling all kinds of amazing bikes, the gathering was filled in on the exciting plan of events on the cards for next week in the Phoenix Park (Monday 15th to Sunday 21st June 2015). Colm Ryder from Cyclist.ie, which is co-ordinating much of the schedule, gave the rundown.

Doireann gave wholehearted support to all the activities, noting that, as a utilitarian cyclist, the programme really appealed to her. Observing that she cycles round the city as the quickest way from A to B, she noted how comfortable she feels as a commuting cyclist and how important it is that cycling is viewed by many more people as a sustainable and preferable way to move around Dublin.

Join in on a week-long celebration of cycling in the Phoenix Park during Bike Week together with dublincycling.ie, the Office of Public Works (
