NEW CUP for KERRY GROUP RAS MUMHAN today (EASTER MONDAY)
Paddy O Callaghan Cup. There will be a new cup for the winner of the final stage on Easter Monday. The cup is being given to the race by Gene Mangan . The cup was known as the Lanco cup in the 1950’s and Gene was the last winner in 1958, the year he won Ras Mumhan also. The cup was given to the National Cycling Club in Dublin by Joseph Veslansky who was a Swiss Jeweler in Dublin. Paddy O Callaghan gave his life to cycling and was the man who ran this great race on many occasions. He was an official at all levels of the sport of cycling from his home club, Killorglin CC to International level where he represented Ireland at UCI level. He will also be remembered as a great bike rider and was National 100 mile T.T. champion in 1955. It is a fitting tribute to a great cycling man. His son Micheal O Callaghan will present the cup to the Stage winner on Easter Monday (today)
Third Stage
KERRY GROUP RAS MUMHAN-3rd stage-
Anthony Walsh of Aquablue won the third stage of the Kerry Group Ras Mumhan which started and finished in Waterville on a magnificient and scenic course in South Kerry over 135kilometers. Walsh outsprinted Daire Feely of Team ITAP in three hours, 30 minutes, and 45 seconds. Third place was Mark Dowing of ASEA/Wheelworx at 22 seconds. Dowling was first rider over the category one climb at Coom An Easpaig, 30 kilometers from the stage end.
Chris McGlinchey of the Ireland Development Team retained his overall lead for the final stage in Killorglin tomorrow (Easter Monday) at 10am.

Second Stage
CYCLING-Chris McGlinchey of the Ireland Development Team retained his overall lead of the Kerry Group Ras Mumhan after stage two yesterday. A great day’s racing in atrocious conditions failed to dampen the competitors in Counties, Kerry and Cork with a start and finish in Kenmare over 145kms. But, McGlinchey’s overall control was in doubt right up to the final kilometers. Bryan McChrystal of Team ASEA/Wheelworkx claimed the stage win, but he was denied the leaders jersey. McGlinchey closed down on McChrystal who had made a break from the leading break with 35 kilometers to go. With ten kilometers to go it looked as though McChristal was heading into yellow but McGlinchey denied the former Leeds United footballer when he cut back the advantage from a from a one minute lead to a matter of seconds on the line.
The third stage starts in Waterville today at mid-day.

First Stage
Chris McGlinchey of the Ireland Development Team was the winner of stage one of the Kerry Group Ras Mumhan four-day International Cycle Race in Kllorglin Co. Kerry today. He was part of a nine man group that dominated the stage. McGlinchey outsprinted Daire Feely Team ITAP with 2014 winner Mark Dowling of ASEA Wheelworx next over the line in third place.
“It was great for the team. Admittedly we had four members in the break which was a real bonus. The decisive move came when a group of nine detached themselves from the peloton after 30kms of racing. Each and everyone were willing to maximise the advantage. In the end I positioned myself well in the uphill sprint to record a major success on the road,” said Chris.
