The death was announced yesterday of former national team manager, Richie Beatty.
 
From Dublin, Richie was involved in the road racing scene from the 1980s with Dublin club Les Jeunes where he developed a keen interest in spotting talent at a young age and developing club riders.
 
Richie was Chairman of the Mid Eastern Region provincial federation for many years from the early 1990s before been appointed Irish team manager in 1998, gaining immediate success when Sligo’s Mark Scanlon became junior World Champion in Valkenburg and Ciaran Power victorious in the Rás Tailteann in 1998.
 
Richie is remembered fondly as an approachable coach and manager for many riders in Dublin and across the country.

Richie will be sadly missed by his loving partner Tracey, sons, and daughters Declan, Mark, Robert, Gerard(deceased), Barbara, Suzanne and Georgia, grandchildren Oscar, Matilda and Fionn, sister Ann.
