Next up on ŠKODA Ireland’s cycling calendar is the 2014 ŠKODA Tour de Conamara followed by the Tour of Kerry
The ŠKODA Tour de Conamara is the next cycling event on the ŠKODA Ireland cycling calendar and takes place on Saturday, 24th May. Registration for the event closes on Tuesday, 20th May with a record number of participants already taking part in this year’s event. Visitors are expected to arrive from all corners of Ireland as well as abroad for the popular cycling sportive and this year, cyclists dressed in vintage cycling gear from the 1970s and 1980s will lead out the event, the first of its kind in Ireland.
As part of ŠKODA’s sponsorship, Monaghan & Sons, ŠKODA’s Galway dealership will host a pre Tour event on Friday, 23rd May in the dealership on the Tuam Road. As part of this event, participants will be able to register in the showroom from 5pm on Friday and will also be able to enjoy a ‘pasta party’ where pasta will be served to ensure the riders are well fed for the following day’s cycle. A DJ will be kicking things off in the dealership from 5pm with a Cycling Ireland representative present on the evening who will be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions cyclists may have. Following on from the Tour de Conamara, the ŠKODA cycle series resumes the following weekend, with the Tour of Kerry Sportive taking place on Saturday, 31st May. The Tour of Kerry Sportive is the third event of the inaugural ŠKODA Cycle Series 2014 and is organised by INM Regionals who have put together a series of seven cycle sportives around Ireland taking place between April and September. Cyclists have the option of two course distances, either 80k and 136k both starting from the IT Tralee campus and the event is chip-timed, incorporating breath-taking views across the Kerry countryside. Speaking ahead of the upcoming cycling events, Raymond Leddy, Head of Marketing & Product, ŠKODA Ireland said “We are delighted to be involved with cycling again this year and next up is the Tour de Conamara.
