Slevin Extends Lead in Para-cycling National Series 


The 2024 Para-cycling National Series is nearing an end with just one more round remaining. The sixth and penultimate round took place on Sunday, 4th of August, hosted by Orwell Wheelers. 


The Noel and Kieran Hammond attracted good entries, especially considering a number of regular competitors are in the final stages of preparation for the Paralympic Games in Paris, starting later this month. 


The Solo category attracted the highest entries. Victory went to Cormac O’Callaghan (C1), with Ivan Naluswa (C5) and Heather Jameson (C3W) completing the podium. 


Adding yet another win to his tally for the year, Declan Slevin won the Handcycle Category, finishing ahead of Ray Murnane. 


Ciaran O’Toole won the Tandem Category, coming home over 1 minute ahead of Ciaran Bulter in second. Jessica Kennedy completed the podium. 


In the series Tom Murphy continues to lead the Solo Category on 128 points. Heather Jameson sits in second on 116 points and Ivan Naluswa in third on 82. 


Declan Slevin has a significant lead in the Handcycle category on an impressive 180 points. Seamus Wall is in second place and Ray Murnane in third. 


Ciaran O’Toole is leading in the Tandem Category on 116 points. On 100 points Ciaran Bulter is in second place and Jessica Kennedy in third. 


The series will conclude with the Thomas White Memorial on Sunday, 8th of September, hosted by Banbridge Cycling Club. Entries opening soon.
