Irish Team Announced for An Post Rás na mBan 2014


Irish Team Announced for Ireland’s Premier Women’s International Race

 

Cycling Ireland has named the five rider team who will compete for Ireland at An Post Rás na mBan next month in Ennis, Co. Clare. The team will be headed by Olivia Dillon, three time winner, with a strong support team, who will compete over the six stage event. Rás na mBan, sponsored by An Post, is Ireland’s only women’s international stage race, and serves as a focus point for many of Ireland’s top cyclists. Taking place from Wednesday the 10th September until Sunday the 14th September, this will be the 9th edition of Rás na mBan, and the 28th anniversary of the start of international women’s racing in Ireland.

 

This year’s team is a strong mix of international riders and domestic based racers, and will be managed by Margaret Donnelly. Last year Dillon won the title, and aims to defend it once again. Strengthened by riders like Mary Costello and Lauren Creamer, this will be one of Ireland’s strongest teams fielded in An Post Rás na mBan.

 

An Post Rás na mBan takes place in Ennis, Co. Clare from 10th – 14th September, and is supported by an number of partners including An Post, The IVCA, Clare Sports Partnership, The National Dairy Council, Fuji Bikes and Fixx Coffee.
