Competitive Irish Team Line Up in Second World Cup in New Zealand

Cycling Ireland has entered a small competitive team in the Track Cycling World Cup in Cambridge, New Zealand this weekend. This is the second World Cup on the Track Cycling 2015/16 race calendar. Racing runs from Friday 4^th to Sunday 6^th December with riders focusing on three Olympic categories; the Women’s Team Pursuit, Men’s Sprint and the Women’s Keirin. With three events remaining in the fight for qualifying points for the Olympic Games in Rio, competition will intense.

Speaking from New Zealand high performance coach Brian Nugent said “This will be a very competitive World Cup as we come an important stage in the Olympic Qualification. The squad have been working very hard and making progress every time they race. This will be an important race for them, but they’re ready for it.”

The Women’s Team Pursuit kicks off the Irish action on Friday morning local time. The final line out will be confirmed closer to the event. If they qualify as one of the top eight teams they will compete again on Saturday. Sunday will see Eoin Mullen and Shannon McCurley compete in the Sprint and Keirin events respectively.

The New Zealand World Cup runs from 4^th – 6^th December, the below schedule lists races in local time as well as Irish time.
