TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT - TRACK WORLD CUP VI – HONG KONG

16/01/2019

Ireland will have eight bikes at the finale of the Track World Cup 2018/19 in Hong Kong this weekend, including the Women’s Team Pursuit and the Men’s Madison.

Taking place at the Hong Kong Velodrome, Track World Cup VI begins on Thursday with Team Pursuit qualifying, Ireland looking to build on London’s exploits last month as the women’s quartet became the first Irish team to make it through to the finals at a Track World Cup.

In contrast, the Men’s Madison team of Felix English and Mark Downey suffered disappointment in London’s round four, with a crash that saw them drop out of the top 10. They will look for compensation on Sunday, with the next stop being the Track World Championships in Poland at the end of February.

The Track World Cup is six rounds of UCI racing, with riders best 3 results counting towards Olympic qualification for Tokyo 2020. The 2019/2020 series has already been announced and is also included in the Tokyo 2020 qualification process, as are the World Championships in 2019 and 2020.
