Team Named Ahead of Junior Nations Cup in Hungary

In what has already been an exciting year for many Irish Junior riders, Cycling Ireland Development Coach Michael Black has named the six riders that will represent Ireland at the upcoming Junior Nations Cup in Hungary on August 14th and 15th.

This is the final remaining Junior Nations Cup race and will take place over two days in the town of Vásárosnamény, 170km from the capital Budapest. The race will include three stages - two road races and one short individual time trial.

It will conclude the Nations Cup series where vital Nations UCI points are on offer resulting in valuable nations slots for the upcoming World Championships in Zurich in September.

The team, listed alphabetically is:

Seth Dunwoody

Max Fitzgerald

David Gaffney

Jospeh Mullen

Conor Murphy

Cal Tutty

Speaking on the team selection, Michael Black said:

"Choosing a team of riders is becoming increasingly challenging due to the exceptionally talented and diverse pool of riders. The current group of junior riders in Ireland are performing at a high level, gaining valuable international experience, and are capable of making significant contributions to any national team.

“Unfortunately, some riders will inevitably be disappointed by not being selected, but this reflects the high standard of our juniors rather than their individual abilities. This situation has positive implications, as it ensures riders are appropriately challenged and continue to develop into stronger, more experienced competitors as they progress to senior ranks.

“We are really looking forward to challenging for stage and overall wins in this race, contributing to our nation ranking and once again putting our junior riders at the front of any international race at junior field"
