Cycling Ireland Track Commission ANNOUNCES Details for Dublin’s International TRack Cycling Grand Prix

The Cycling Ireland Track Commission has today announced a quality field for the prestigious UCI Track Cycling International Grand Prix, which will take place on July 12thand 13th at the Velodrome, Dublin City Council’s Eamonn Ceannt Park, Sundrive Road.
Newly crowned Irish Road Racing Champion, and under-23 Irish Time trial champion Ryan Mullen will compete against top track riders from overseas, including Germany’s Omnium and Scratch National Champion Maximillian Beyer, and riders from as far away as Brazil and Venezuela.
World Championships gold and silver medallist Martyn Irvine from Newtownards has today confirmed his place on the start line. The US based pro will fly home for this weekend’s racing.
Lord Mayor, Christy Burke said: “The Velodrome in Eamonn Ceannt Park will this weekend play host to cyclists from home and abroad. Dublin City Council are delighted to support this exciting free event for all the family whilst encouraging cycling through our Sports and Recreation department. I’ve no doubt the grand prix in our park will attract and encourage all levels of cycling enthusiasts and will be a fun and memorable event for all who attend”.
It will be a weekend jam-packed with excitement with crucial Olympic qualification points be up for grabs. Speaking about the event, world number one pursuit rider, Ireland’s own Caroline Ryan said “I’m really excited about the International GP this year. It was great to get the opportunity last year, for the first time, to race and win an International track race on home ground and I can’t wait to get back out and race in front of a home crowd once more.”
Spectators will be welcome and are encouraged to come along at the weekend to this free event to support Irish athletes in their quest for Olympic qualification. Racing from 10am – 5pm, Saturday and Sunday.
