UCI Track Cycling World Cup Guadalajara Team Announcement

Ryan to Compete in Scratch, Mullen Makes Elite Debut in Last Race in World Cup Series Mexico

Ireland will be competing in the final leg of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Series in Guadalajara, Mexico this weekend, with Caroline Ryan and Ryan Mullen competing across the endurance events. Mullen, who won two Bronze Medals in the European U23 Championships last summer, is making his senior debut, racing in the Points Race and the Individual Pursuit, while Ryan will be competing in the Scratch Race. Competition begins this Friday, with Mullen and Ryan both competing.

Last month Ryan won a bronze medal in the Individual Pursuit in the World Cup in Aguascalientes, and will be focusing solely on the bunch competition in Guadalajara this weekend. Mullen, 19, will gain valuable experience racing in the senior events in Mexico, where he also competes in both the Points Race on Friday and the Individual Pursuit on Saturday.

Regular team members Eoin Mullen and World Champion Martyn Irvine are missing this World Cup, with Irvine focusing on his preparation for the World Championships in Cali next February, and Mullen racing in Australia, working towards the Rio qualification process next year.

The World Cup takes place in Guadalajara, Mexico, and will run from the 17th – 19th January.
