Emerald Enduro

After what has seemed like an eternal wait the 2015 Enduro World Series is finally upon us as round one kicks off in New Zealand this weekend at Crankworx Rotorua.  The end of last season in Finale Ligure seems like a long time ago and riders have been putting in the hard miles over the winter to prepare for the season.

Ireland is up next after New Zealand and we've been busy over the winter too prepping the tracks and sorting out the finer details for what we are sure will be the biggest mountain bike event that the Emerald isle has ever seen.  With under two months till the flag drops in Carrick here's some information to help you plan your visit to the Chain Reaction Cycles Emerald Enduro.

The Chain Reaction Cycles Emerald Enduro Expo area

At the heart of the race village is the Expo area, the nerve center for the whole event.  From here the riders will set off and return from the main stage, the presentations will be held and the commentary team will be based, bringing you live updates as the race progresses.  It's also the home to all the teams and their mechanics and it will be a great place to check out what people are riding and even meet your heroes after their days racing.

There will be plenty to see including the always entertaining Air bag jump and a kids track aswell ensuring this is an event for the whole family and with the mountain only a short stroll away you can dip in and out of the racing throughout the day.

Don't forget that there is Practice too on the Friday afternoon and all day Saturday which will allow for some good access to the racers in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Accommodation

With a number of towns only a short drive away there are a plethera of options for accommodation in the area.  Wicklow town is the closest followed by Bray and of course Dublin itself is very close.  Carrick is a mere 25 minutes from the suburbs and under an hour from the city center.

A variety of accommodation is available from full service 5 star hotels right down to camping and glamping options in the nearby village of Rathdrum.  Whatever your needs check out our accommodation section of our website and of course the tourist boards in Wicklow can help too.

Chain Reaction Cycles

The event would not be possible without the support of event partners Chain Reaction Cycles.  Based in Ballyclare, Northern Ireland, they have grown from humble origins to become the biggest online bike retailer in the world in a short period of time.  Now boasting international trade teams in Enduro and Downhill, we are thrilled to announce that legendary former Downhill World Champion Sam Hill, the flat pedal thunder from down under, will be racing in Carrick!

Camping

Check out the fantastic 4-star camp site in Rathdrum, the Hidden Valley Holiday Park.  Offering a variety of options from full service camping pitches to self catering lodges and cabins it's a mere 8km from the race site.

Marshalls required!

We are currently recruiting for a small army of volunteers to help us guide the racers through their day.  We are looking for hardworking, enthusiastic people who are prepared to take on all roles as directed by team leaders.

Volunteers should be at least 16 years old and you do not need any previous experience, you will be clearly guided on what's happening. If you have any specific skills, for example if you speak any foreign languages then let us know. In return we provide a goddie bag including a cool event tee shirt, lunch and snacks throughout the day.   The added bonus is you get to rub shoulders with the best riders in the world.
