Cycling Ireland Updates

We have a number of updates from Cycling Ireland of what's been developing or happening in the organisation over the past month.

There were many responses to the Event Safety Officers Appeal last month, they will now be called Event Support Officers and the programme has kicked off already.

Due to the high response for someone to sit on the board it was decided that it will go to vote as usual at the AGM.

We recently appointed BRIGID O'DEA as Safeguarding Officer. Already she has stamped her mark, launching the new e-vetting system.

Congratulations Gary McIlroy who recently successfully completed his UCI International Commissaire Assessment at the Women's Tour of Italy, becoming a UCI Road International Commissaire.

International Commissaire Paul Watson will be making his Olympic debut - working in Rio this week, best of luck Paul.

The survey of lapsed members will close shortly, with approximately 700 responses.

2017 will see a Women's 40+ Road Race Championship incorporated in to the Women's Senior Race. There will also be a demo championships in the Women's 40+ TT and Women's Criterium Championships.

Great Dublin Bike Ride - 11th September

There is only 4 weeks to go until this year’s Great Dublin Bike Ride and we are on track for another sell out with places filling up fast. On Sunday 11th September 2016, up to 5,000 riders will set out from Smithfield in Dublin to take part in the second Great Dublin Bike Ride. The event will offer a 60km route for those looking for a slightly less strenuous day in the saddle and a challenging 100km route for experienced riders. READ MORE HERE
