Licences 2016 - What’s New?


We are constantly looking for ways to cater for your needs better. This year we have introduced a lot of new options, like the Cycling Supporter Licence and an anniversary renewal. We have also introduced a perpetual member option for leisure members, whereby when you are renewing your licence you can opt for a five year renewal, which not only offers a discount, but means you don’t have to worry about renewing your licence for the next five years. To avail of this option, when you are renewing your licence click on the link that says “Pay with GO CARDLESS” as below.

Foster the Future Coaching Conference


Are you a cycling coach and what to learn some new skills? Maybe you are a rider who wants to expand your own knowledge of the sport? If so you should check out the #fosterthefuture coaching conference. Cycling Ireland has teamed up with Triathlon Ireland and Swim Ireland this year to offer you an opportunity to attend “Foster the Future” Coaching Conference, which will be held in UCD on Saturday 27th February. The focus of the conference is how to best coach juniors, and experts will be speaking on a host of different topics from nutrition to mental health. Read HERE for more information.





National Teams Announced

Cyclo-cross Team



Best of luck to the Irish Cycling Team competing at the World Cyclo-cross Championships in Belgium this weekend. David Conroy will be competing in the junior category, while David Montgomery will be racing in the U23 Championships. READ MORE HERE


   



Talent Team


Cycling Ireland recently announced their Talent Team for the 2016 season. This team is for youth riders, aged under 16 who are ambitious. The long term aim is to get riders to the Olympics in 2020 and beyond. SEE MORE HERE 



Junior Team


This weekend the Junior Team for 2016 will be launched Dublin. With a large pool of talented riders to choose from, this will be an exciting year for the team. Keep an eye on the CYCLING IRELAND WEBSITE for the team announcement.


Homestay


Have you ever thought about heading off on a cycling trip, but been put off by the cost of accommodation, or even the availability of suitable accommodation? Homestay is an accommodation marketplace whereby 50,000 home owners in 150 countries welcome travellers into their home. Cycling Ireland has linked up with Homestay with the intention of allowing the cycling community the option of hosting fellow cyclists, or like-minded individuals in their homes, and availing of the same. Cycling Tips and Tackling Bullying

New Masters Categories


At their most recent meeting, the Board of Cycling Ireland sanctioned a new jersey for the Master’s categories at the National Championships. They also ruled to introduce a master’s category to the Women’s National Road Racing Championships, which will be a demonstration event for this first year. READ MORE



Technical Rules


The Technical Rules and Regulations for 2016 have been updated to reflect a number of changes. The sport of cycling is regulated according to these rules. At the AGM each year there is an opportunity for clubs to propose and vote on changes to the rules. See the TECHNICAL RULES 2016 HERE
