Monthly Update on What's Happening In Cycling Ireland

From Emerald Enduro to Bike for Life - What Happened in May

What a month we have had! Good weather, great cycling and lots of events across all disciplines.

One of the highlights of May was the Emerald Enduro - for the second year Ireland hosted a round in the World Enduro Series, hosted by Biking.ie. What a success it was! Check out the highlights HERE

With the year that's in it, the Para-cyclists are finalising all the preparation put in over the past four years ahead of the Paralympic Games. The team will be selected shortly, so competition was hot at the World Cups in South Africa and Belgium, with plenty of medals rounding off a solid block of racing.

In the An Post Rás Ireland entered a team for the first time since 2011. The young team, managed by David McCann performed outstandingly, with Eddie Dunbar finishing 4th overall in an exciting week where Irish riders performed well, with the highlights being stage wins for Eddie and Eoin Morton, and Ian Richardson taking the county rider jersey.

On the coaching front The National Dairy Council held a cycling specific nutritional seminar for coaches, the informative evening saw people travel from all around the country to attend, check the gallery HERE

At the BMX World Championships Kelvin Batey performed well in the elite racing events, but fell short of Olympic qualification following an intense period of racing for the World Master's Champion.
