Women’s bike racing in Ireland is growing - and we want you to help make it even bigger!

2014 has been a phenomenal year for women’s cycling. This year saw the launch of La Course, a one day race on the final day of the Tour de France. The FriendsLife Women’s Tour stage race brought the best international and domestic racers to the roads of Britain. Here at home, we had an increased number National League races, as well as record participation in Rás na mBan stage race. Across the country, local TT, club and racing leagues have sprung up to introduce even more women to road racing.

These international, national and local events don’t just happen - they need the support of the cycling community to make them a reality! The Women’s Commission invites you to the Women’s Cycling AGM & Open Forum on Saturday, September 27th, the goal of the which is to get input and feedback on how to grow and develop women’s racing in 2015 and beyond.

The meeting will include a review of the year’s activities, feedback on what went well and what could be improved, and outline plans for women’s racing in Ireland next year. We invite women and men from across the country who are interested in women’s racing to attend and bring their ideas and input, regardless of how long you’ve been involved in racing. We especially welcome parents and junior riders to attend and help shape the future of women’s racing in Ireland.
