Sevastopulo Family Shine at Sundrive
Sundrive Velodrome hosted the Youth Track National Championships on Saturday, 10th of August.
Vicky Sevastopulo of Sundrive Track Team took Gold in both
the Time Trial and Sprint in the Girls Under 12. In the TT she was closely followed
by Ruby Millar from Square Wheels and Sophia Woods also from Sundrive. Silver
in the Sprint went to Maggie Bates from Sundrive, while Sophia Woods made it a
Sundrive hat-trick taking Bronze. The Girls Under 12 Scratch race was won by Molly Turner
from Orwell Wheelers, ahead of Maggie Bates in second and Ruby Millar in third.
William Hance from Orwell Wheelers took Gold in the Boys Under 12
Sprint and TT, as well as Silver in the Scratch. Cullen Murphy from O’Leary
Stone Kanturk took Silver in the Sprint and TT and grabbed himself the top spot
in the Scratch race. Jake Govan from Orwell Wheelers took Bronze across all
three disciplines in what was a very strong day out for the three medal
winners.
VC Glendale’s Aoife Craig took the top spot in the Girls Under 14
Sprint and TT to go with her Silver in the Scratch race. Naoise Byrne from
Carlow RCC took second place in the Sprint and TT, but managed to edge out
Craig in the Scratch race for Gold. Katie Turner from Orwell Wheelers took third
place across all three disciplines.
In the Boys Under 14 category, Sundrive’s Oscar Sevastopulo had a
very successful day, taking Gold across all three disciplines. James Cunningham
from Orwell Wheelers took second place in both the Sprint and Scratch behind
Sevastopulo, and nabbed Bronze behind Xander Huele in the TT. Huele also added bronze
in the Sprint and Scratch to his TT Silver for the day.
The Girls Under 16 category was cut and dry, as Emer Heverin of
All Human/Velo Revolution took the titles in the Sprint, TT and Scratch. Poppy
Hamilton from Spellman-Dublin Port took Silver across all three, while Ysabella
Huele came in third across all three disciplines.
Karl Bernie from Navan Road Club took the top spot in the
Boys U16 Sprint and TT. Silver in the Sprint went to Elliott McKeegan from Team
Madigan CC, with Spellman-Dublin Port rider Curtis McKee taking third spot. McKee
also took Bronze in the TT, behind Sundrive’s George Sevastopulo in second, and
Bernie in first. Sevastopulo took the win in the Scratch ahead of McKeegan in
second and James Armstrong from VC Glendale in third.
Congratulations to all who took part on the day, and a special
mention must go to the Sevastopulos on their very successful day, taking medals
across all age groups.
